I have a scuba diving license and want to try freediving. Which course should I take?

If you're comfortable in open water, you may consider going straight for our Molchanovs Wave 1 course.

Why are we more expensive than scuba diving?

Our freediving courses are more expensive than a traditional freediving course because of the small group classes and the personal instruction you get from your instructor. Our classes typically have between 2 to 3 freedivers gives you the benefit of diving with a group of like-minded freedivers, gaining a good vibe and energy from the power of a group class, while also allowing our instructor to give instruction when appropriate. It is group personal training at a fraction of the cost.

Furthermore, you will also be part of a fantastic community!

Why choose us over a regular freediving organization/school?

Regular dive schools are generally non-interactive experiences. To us, Molchanovs and freediving are all about the community, where you are joined by like-minded people who want to be and feel better. Your fellow freedivers will all know you by name, and you will challenge and support each other on your freediving journey, keeps motivation high and makes the entire freediving experience fun.

Besides, we will have qualified instructors to coach you through every dive. Our instructors will observe and advise on your abilities and performances, allowing you to dive better and, most importantly, to dive safely.

Is my deposit refundable?

If you have changed your mind, please reach out to us within the 12 hours after you have booked and transferred the deposit to us so that we can help you amend or cancel your booking! However, all booking and deposits are non-refundable and non-exchangeable once we have processed and registered an account with you on Molchanovs's system.

When / What time should I arrive?

Our first day of the course starts at 10 am, and you should book the earliest speedboat schedule at 8 am. So you can arrive at the island on time and still have some time for you to check in your stay.

What if I did not pass?

Students who did not pass the course are allowed to come back and join the coaching sessions. Coaching sessions are RM200 per session, mainly focusing on the techniques and helping students to achieve their target mindfully.

May I learn freediving if I don't know how to swim?

Yes, but students might feel not as comfortable as they should be. To ensure our students can dive comfortably, we strongly suggest our students sign up for survival swimming lessons with us before signing up for our freediving course. Please enquire for more info regarding this.

How long should I hold my breath?

In Wave 1, students require to achieve a record of 1'30 static. With the guidance of our experienced instructor, no students had ever failed in this task before but surprised themselves instead.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes, students will receive a certificate if they pass the course requirement. Indeed, it is proof of achievement unlocked. However, we want our students to focus & enjoy the process of learning the techniques instead of passing the course.

Is it difficult to learn?

No, it's not. Freediving is like any other sport requiring much practice and training. Our instructor will guide students through every step of the learning journey throughout the course. And with practice, students will see their improvement.

How many students are there in a class?

Our instructor uses the Molchanovs teaching system; therefore, the instructor only teaches in a small group of classes. There is a maximum of 6 students for pool sessions and a maximum of 4 students for open water with a diving buoy. Still, for AndRasa, we have three students on a diving buoy to maximize your learning time.

What is Molchanovs?

Molchanovs is a total freediving agency founded by the legend of freediving – Natalia Molchanova, and her son – Alexey Molchanovs, with many other great athletes like Adam Stern, Dean Chaouche, William Trubridge, etc. Molchanovs aims to keep more and more people in the community, focus on mental techniques, share knowledge, and dive properly.

May I postpone my course date?

Yes, you may! However, please reach out to us anytime or at the latest one week before your course date begins. After that, we do not allow amendments or cancellations as we would have arranged everything by then. So, if possible, inform us as soon as something is on your schedule.
